VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

2.88.010 Established.

A volunteer fire department shall be and is established by the city, which shall consist of a fire chief and assistant fire chief and a force of volunteer fire fighters. [Ord. 539 § 1, 1982].

2.88.020 Fire chief – Election.

The fire chief shall be elected from the members of the volunteer fire department, by the members of that department, which election shall be confirmed by a majority of the city council plus one. [Ord. 539 § 2, 1982].

2.88.030 Fire chief – Term.

The fire chief shall hold office during all, or a portion, of a two-year term beginning on the fifteenth day of even-numbered years for which he is elected, unless removed by a majority vote of the department or by a vote of a majority plus one of the city council upon recommendation by the mayor or any of the city council members. [Ord. 539 § 3, 1982].

2.88.040 Rules and regulations adoption.

The fire department may adopt for its governance such rules and regulations as it may see fit not inconsistent with the laws of the state and the ordinances of the city. A copy of such rules and regulations, as soon as adopted, shall be filed with the city clerk-treasurer. Such rules and regulations may be amended from time to time by the department in regular meetings. [Ord. 539 § 4, 1982].
