WATER METER PLACEMENT

15.20.010 Placement on city right-of-way required.

Placement of water meters for all new constructions requiring placement of a water meter, for all remodel construction requiring the movement of a water meter, or for any other installation of water meters for water hookups within the city from and after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter shall be placed on city property, city’s right-of-way, or an easement provided by the city adjacent to the property requiring the water hookup. 15.20.020 Location approval for building permit.

Upon the application for a building permit, location of the water meter shall be set forth on said building permit application. Such application shall be reviewed by the public works director, who shall have the authority to approve the location of such water meter. If such water meter is not placed in a location approved by the public works director, the city shall prohibit delivery of water from the city water plant to such property. [Ord. 470 § 2, 1978].

15.20.030 Unapproved placement a misdemeanor.

Placement or installation of a water meter without the approval of the public works director shall be a misdemeanor and punishable under the laws of the state as a misdemeanor. [Ord. 470 § 3, 1978].

15.20.040 City access required – Water turnoff for violator.

Water meters shall not be fenced in. Access for the purpose of reading such water meters shall be available to the city or its agent at all times. The violation of this section shall result in the city terminating supply of water to the offending property. This shall apply to all construction, installation, and placement of water meters from and after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter. [Ord. 470, 1978].
