COURTHOUSE FACILITATOR

(a)    The position of courthouse facilitator is created to serve family law litigants.

(b)    This position serves at the pleasure of the Chelan County clerk.

(c)    The Chelan County clerk is authorized to impose a twenty dollar surcharge on those superior court cases filed under RCW Title 26.

(d)    A thirty dollar fee is established for each session of assistance provided by the courthouse facilitator to pro se litigants. A reduced fee of five dollars is established to be applied where a pro se litigant in a family law matter has been found indigent by a superior court judicial officer.

(e)    This reduced fee option is also available at the discretion of the clerk if the individual has met the indigence standard as defined in General Rule 34, but has not yet been found indigent by a superior court judicial officer.

(f)    The county auditor is authorized to impose an excess fee of eight dollars on the issuance of marriage licenses in accordance with RCW 26.12.220.

(g)    Monies collected shall be paid into current expense and shall be used solely for the support of the courthouse facilitator program.
