9.04.010 Speed limit generally.
Twenty-five miles per hour shall be the maximum motor vehicle speed on all county roads unless a different speed limit on a county road is established by public record or as otherwise described in this chapter, as set forth as follows:

9.04.011 Skyline Drive—South Hills Drive.
The speed limit on Skyline Drive from the westerly end of Red Apple Road to the No. 2 Canyon Road shall be twenty-five miles per hour and the speed limit on South Hills Drive from Red Apple Road to Crawford Street shall be twenty-five miles per hour. (Res. 378-D, 4/4/60).
9.04.012 Muddy Creek Road.
The speed limit on the Muddy Creek Road from the Entiat Valley Highway to a point near the cattle guard above the Stepping “C” Dude Ranch is thirty-five miles per hour. (Res. 390-D, May 31, 1960 at Vol. B page 327).
9.04.013 Mad River Road.
The speed limit of thirty-five miles per hour is the maximum legal speed on the Mad River Road from its intersection with the Entiat Valley Highway at Arden-voir westerly to the Indian Creek junction. (Res. 405 1/2-D, August 22, 1960 at Vol. B page 359).
9.04.014 Stemilt Creek Road.
The speed limit on County Road No. 15, known as the Stemilt Creek Road, from its junction with the Stemilt Hill Road in the NW 1/4 Section 1, Township 21 North, Range 20 E.W.M. to the foot of Dago Grade in the NE 1/4 Section 14, Township 21 North, Range 20 E.W.M. is thirty-five miles per hour. The county engineer is directed to erect the appropriate speed limit signs. (Res. 410-D, October 3, 1960 at Vol. B page 369).
9.04.015 North Shore Road, Lake Wenatchee.
The speed limit on County Road No. 22, known as the North Shore Road, Lake Wenatchee, from its intersection with SSH 15D in the NW 1/4 Section 28, Township 27 North, Range 17 E.W.M. northerly and westerly to its intersection with 15D in the NW 1/2 Section 14, Township 27 North, Range 16 E.W.M. is twenty-five miles per hour for all vehicular traffic. The county engineer is directed to erect suitable signs. (Res. 465-D, June 26, 1961 at Vol. B page 437).
9.04.016 South Mission Street—Marr Street to Crawford Street.
The speed limit is established at thirty miles per hour on South Mission Street, from Marr Street to Crawford Street. The county engineer is authorized and directed to erect suitable legal signs on South Mission Street. (Res. 76-3, January 6, 1976 at Vol. E pages 375-376).
9.04.017 Surry Road and Mulberry Lane (Heidenhain Road).
The speed limit on Surry Road, County Road No. 464 in the NW 1/4 Section 5, Township 22 North, Range 20 E.W.M., and Mulberry Lane (Heidenhain Road), County Road No. 146J in the E 1/2, Section 32, Township 23 North, Range 20 E.W.M. is restricted to twenty-five miles per hour and the county engineer is directed to erect suitable speed limit signs. (Res. 519-D, April 30, 1962 at Vol. B page 517).
9.04.018 Willow Point Road.
(a) Willow Point Road is a short dead-end road that serves private residences and as the parking area for Willow Point Park;
(b) It is deemed in the public interest to established a speed limit of fifteen miles per hour on Willow Point Road, located in Sections 27 and 34, Township 28 North, Range 21, East, W.M.; and
(c) The county engineer is authorized and directed to erect fifteen mile per hour speed limit signs as appropriate. (Res. 97-104, 8/11/97).
9.04.019 Camas Creek Road.
(a) The maximum speed limit on Camas Creek Road shall be thirty miles per hour.
(b) The county engineer is hereby authorized and directed to erect maximum speed limit signs of thirty miles per hour on Camas Creek Road as appropriate, from the intersection of U.S. Highway 97 to the end of the pavement which is located in Sections 17, 18, 20, and 21, Township 23 North, Range 18 East, W.M. (Res. 2004-112, 9/27/04).

9.04.110 Reasonable care requirement.
Compliance with above speed regulations shall not relieve any motor vehicle operator of the further duty to exercise reasonable care in operating his motor vehicle on the roads of Chelan County. (§ 2 of Res. 380-D, April 11, 1960 at Vol. B page 308).
9.04.111 Speed limit on Wenatchee National Forest roads.
The speed limit on the Wenatchee National Forest Roads within the Fields Point area along the south shore of Lake Chelan is established at fifteen miles per hour. (Res. 84-55, 6/26/84).
9.04.112 Speed limits on Mission Ridge Road.
(1) From April 1st through October 31st, the speed limit on Mission Ridge Road is thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with Squilchuck Road to the road’s end in the southwest quarter of Section 24, Township 21 North, Range 19 E.W.M.
(2) From November 1st through March 31st, the speed limit on Mission Ridge Road is twenty-five miles per hour from its intersection with Squilchuck Road to the road’s end in the southwest quarter of Section 24, Township 21 North, Range 19 E.W.M.
(3) The county engineer is directed and authorized to install and maintain a regulatory sign displaying the applicable seasonal speed limit for the entire route and in accordance with the Washington State Department of Transportation’s “Manual for Signing.” (Res. 2014-119 (Exh. A), 11/25/14).

The board of county commissioners hereby authorizes the county engineer or the engineer’s designated representative to temporarily reduce the maximum allowable speed on any county road, as necessary for worker and public safety and to minimize property damage, during road construction and/or emergency conditions; provided, that the maximum allowed speed shall not be reduced below twenty miles per hour. The speed limit reductions shall become effective upon the placement of standard signs indicating the maximum allowable speed and shall cease at such time as the signs are removed by the engineer or his representative. All signs to be placed in accordance with this section shall conform to the manual on uniform traffic control devices for streets and highways for the state of Washington.
The violation of the speed limits as authorized in this section shall constitute a traffic infraction. (Res. 2012-80 (Exh. A) (part), 8/21/12).
9.04.116 Signs posted and maintained.
The county engineer is directed and authorized to cause to be posted and maintained signs in accordance with this chapter and the Washington State Department of Transportation’s “Manual for Signing.”
Each speed limit established by this chapter shall take effect upon the erection of signs upon the roads and/or sections of roads described. (Res. 2012-80 (Exh. A) (part), 8/21/12).
9.04.120 Penalty for violations.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor. (§ 3 of Res. 380-D, April 11, 1960 at Vol. B page 308).
