MISCELLANEOUS BUILDING AND PLUMBING REGULATIONS

15.14.010 Permit required.

Any individual, person, firm, corporation, general contractor or subcontractor, before commencing work on the erection, construction or installation of any fire sprinkler systems, process piping, gasoline piping, refrigeration and air conditioning units, duct work, steam and hot water heating installation, oil and coal-fired steam boilers, all types of pressure vessels, mill and process machinery, air compressor installations and air piping, and all other installations not specifically covered by the existing plumbing, building and gas codes of the city, shall obtain a permit therefor from the office of the building inspector of the city, portable appliance type air conditioners excepted. 15.14.020 Fee for permit.

The required fee for the issuance of such permit shall be one percent of the first $20,000 of the estimated or contract price of such work, and one-half of one percent on the remainder of the estimated or contract price. [Ord. 689 § 2, 1969.]

15.14.030 Periodic inspection – Codes.

Any of the work, installation, erection or construction described in CMC 15.14.010 and 15.14.020 shall be subject to periodic inspection by the building inspector of the city, and testing shall be done in accordance with the applicable national and state codes including the latest edition of the following:

(1) Uniform Heating and Comfort Code of Western Plumbing Officials;

(2) Fire Prevention Code of American Insurance Association;

(3) Washington State Boiler and Unfired Pressure Vessels Law;

(4) The National Fire Codes of the National Fire Prevention Association. [Ord. 689 § 3, 1969.]

15.14.040 Exception to codes – Equipment.

Architects’ and engineering specifications may use code restrictions in excess of those listed. All equipment used shall be subject to State Underwriters Laboratory requirements. [Ord. 689 § 4, 1969.]

15.14.050 Violation – Penalty.

Any individual, person, firm, corporation, general contractor or subcontractor violating the provisions of this chapter shall be subject to a penalty equal to 50 percent of the permit fee as above specified and to a fine in an amount not exceeding $250.00. [Ord. 689 § 5, 1969.]
