2.32.010 Nomination requirements.
Nomination for municipal elective offices of the city shall be made as follows in this chapter. (Ord. 288 § 1 (part), 1970: Ord. 214 § 2 (part), 1961).
2.32.020 Filing declaration of candidacy—Form.
Each candidate for elective municipal office, in the city, shall, not more than sixty days nor less than forty-six days prior to the first Tuesday in November of each even-numbered year, file a declaration of his candidacy with the city clerk/ treasurer, on such form as the city clerk/treasurer shall provide, which form shall substantially conform to the form set forth in RCW 29.18.030. 2.32.030 Filing fee.
The candidate shall accompany said declaration with a filing fee, payable to the city, in a sum equal to one percent of the salary of the office for which the candidate declares. (Ord. 214 §2(b), 1961).
2.32.040 Withdrawal.
Any candidate may withdraw his candidacy by filing his withdrawal of candidacy with the city clerk/treasurer in writing, within five days after the close of the filing period. (Ord. 214 §2(c), 1961).
2.32.050 Notice of open positions.
The city clerk/treasurer shall publish a notice in one issue of the official newspaper of the city, not less than three nor more than ten days prior to the commencement of the filing period, which notice shall advise all interested persons of the elective positions that are open for filing for the next ensuing municipal election, the term thereof, the salary therefor, and the requirements for filing candidacy. 2.32.060 List of candidates sent to county.
The city clerk/treasurer shall not more than forty days and not less than thirty-five days prior to the municipal election in each even-numbered year, transmit to the county auditor of Franklin County a certified list of all candidates for election at the next ensuing municipal election. (Ord. 214 § 2(e), 1961).
2.32.070 Affidavit required for filing.
The city clerk/treasurer shall not receive nor file the declaration of any person as a candidate for public office, unless said declaration is accompanied by an affidavit that he is not a subversive person as defined and provided by RCW 9.81. (Ord. 214 § 2(f), 1961).
