14.16.060 Official Fire Zone Map.

14.16.001 Purpose.

The purpose of this chapter is to amend and establish fire limits and zones to be used in conjunction with the International Building Code to provide minimum standards to safeguard life or limb, health, property and public welfare, by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and maintenance of all buildings and structures within the city and certain equipment specifically regulated therein. 14.16.002 Description of zones.

There are established two fire zones within the city being zone No. 1 and zone No. 3, as more particularly described and used in the International Building Code and such later or amended editions thereof as are adopted by the city. (Ord. 832 § 1 (part), 2008: Ord. 329 (part), 1972).

14.16.003 Zone No. 1—Generally.

The areas described in zone No. 1, Section 14.16.030 refer to dedicated land plats of areas or additions to the city as filed for record with the Franklin County auditor and all lying within the city. The unplatted parcel lying east of South Columbia Avenue between East Elm Street and East First Street referred to in Section 14.16.030(d) is bounded on the east by South Burke Avenue. 14.16.004 Alterations.

Substantial alteration of any existing structure for occupancy shall not be permitted except in conformance with the International Building Code, fire zone requirements. (Ord. 832 § 1 (part), 2008: Ord. 329 (part), 1972).

14.16.005 Repealer.

Ordinances Nos. 110, 132,154, 159, 177, or parts thereof in conflict with this chapter, and any other ordinance or parts thereof in conflict herewith are repealed. (Ord. 329 (part), 1972).

14.16.006 Official fire zone map—Generally.

A copy of the official fire zone map for the city is annexed hereto and by this reference made a part hereof, but if an inconsistency appears between the official fire zone map and the terms of this chapter, the written portions of this chapter shall control in resolving any conflict or ambiguity. 14.16.010 Fire limits established.

The fire limits of the city are established as being the city limits. All new areas annexed to the city from the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter shall likewise be within the fire limits at the time of annexation. (Ord. 329 (part), 1972).

14.16.020 Zones established.

The city shall be divided into two fire districts as follows in Sections 14.16.030 and 14.16.040. (Ord. 329 (part), 1972).

14.16.030 Zone No. 1—Established.

All lands within zone No. 1 shall include all land within the following described areas:

(a) The Campbell Addition; all of Block 3;

(b) The original plat of Connell; all of Blocks 3, 16, 21, and 32; all of Block 4 and adjacent parcels A and G; all of Block 15 and adjacent parcels B and F; all of Block 22 and adjacent parcel E;

(c) The Klindworth Addition; all of Blocks 22 and 23; the west one-half of Blocks 16, 21 and 24, and the east one-half of Block 8 and Lots 1 through 18 and the east one-half of the adjacent vacated street right-of-way of Block 15;

(d) The west one-half of the unplatted parcel lying east of South Columbia Avenue between East Elm Street and East Fir Street;

(e) Sportsmen Addition; the west one-half of Block 3;

(f) The Striker Addition; all of Block 1, and the east one- half of Blocks 2 and 13. (Ord. 329 (part), 1972).

14.16.040 Zone No. 3—Established.

Zone No. 3 shall include the remainder of the land lying within the city limits not described in Section 14.16.030. (Ord. 329 (part), 1972).

14.16.050 Zone No. 1—Construction standards.

It is unlawful for any person to build or construct any building or structure within zone No. 1 as established in Section 14.16.030, except in conformance with the International Building Code, fire zone No. 1 requirements. (Ord. 832 § 1 (part), 2008: Ord. 329 (part), 1972).
