1.05.040 Office created.

Effective March 1, 1988, the office of city clerk of Ellensburg shall be a separate and distinct office and known as the office of city clerk. [Ord. 3615 § 1, 1988.]

1.05.080 Powers and duties.

The powers, duties, and responsibilities of the city clerk shall be subject to the direction, authority, and supervision of the city finance director/treasurer, and shall include without limitation the following:

A. Keep a full and true record of every act and proceeding of the city council and keep such books, accounts, and make such reports as may be required by the Division of Municipal Corporations in the Office of the State Auditor.

B. Record all ordinances, annexing thereto his/her certificate giving the number and title of the ordinance and stating that the ordinance was published and posted as required by law and that the record is a true and correct copy thereof.

C. Shall be the custodian of the seal of the city and shall have authority to acknowledge the execution of all instruments by the city.

D. Act as a deputy registrar in all precincts in the county.

E. Perform such other duties as may be required by statute or ordinance or as directed by the city finance director/treasurer or city manager.

F. In the absence of the city finance director/treasurer, the city clerk shall perform all duties prescribed by state law for the office of the city clerk.

G. In the absence of the city clerk, any duty prescribed by law to be performed by the city clerk shall be performed by the city finance director/treasurer. [Ord. 3615 § 1, 1988.]

1.05.120 Oath and bond.

The city clerk, before entering upon the duties of the office, shall take an oath and execute and file with the city an official bond in the amount of $1,000, conditioned upon the honest and faithful performance of the official duties of said office. [Ord. 3615 § 1, 1988.]
