EMPLOYEES – CIVIL SERVICE – PENSIONS

Chapters 41.08 and 41.12 RCW are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated herein as though fully set forth and the provisions in RCW 41.08.030 relating to a civil service commission for fire fighters and RCW 41.12.030 relating to a civil service commission for police are hereby specifically adopted and said commission shall operate for both fire and police purposes. The civil service commission heretofore existing shall constitute the new civil service commission created hereunder and hereafter be comprised of members in accordance with the sections of the state law heretofore cited. 1.28.080 Pensions.
Membership in all pensions for fire fighters, police officers, or other city employees as they existed prior to the repeal and reenactment of the ordinance codified in this chapter shall remain in effect and not be altered in any way by this chapter. [Ord. 3610 § 1, 1987.]
1.28.120 Fire chief and police chief exemption from civil service.
All individuals appointed as either fire chief or police chief after July 1, 1987, are excluded from classified service as per RCW 41.08.050 and 41.12.050, as those sections have been amended by the Laws of 1987. [Ord. 3610 § 1, 1987.]
