1.32.040 Powers and duties.

The attorney appointed to act as city attorney of the city of Ellensburg shall advise the city authorities and officers in all legal matters pertaining to the business of the city, shall attend meetings of the city council, and shall be responsible for preparing all general purpose ordinances, resolutions, contracts, deeds, leases and similar documents, for reviewing all contracts, bonds, insurance policies and other instruments, and for prosecuting violations of city ordinances in the Ellensburg municipal court. 1.32.080 Other professional services.

The attorney appointed as city attorney shall provide, in addition, any professional services which have been authorized by the city council and/or as directed by the city manager and which are beyond the scope of the general professional services set forth in ECC 1.32.040. Other professional services include but are not limited to representing the city of Ellensburg in courts of competent jurisdiction in civil litigation and for rendering services in connection with any local improvement district, annexation, or special financing arrangement, bond issue, and other matters as are in the best legal interest of the city of Ellensburg. 1.32.120 Status of city attorney.

The attorney appointed by the city of Ellensburg as city attorney shall be an officer of the city, shall take an oath of office and shall execute and file with the city clerk an official bond in the amount prescribed by ECC 1.30.640. The city attorney shall be considered an employee of the city of Ellensburg for purposes of pension, insurance, and for withholding taxes. [Ord. 3681 § 1, 1990.]
