2.05.040 Payment authorized.
The payment of a reward in money to any eligible person who furnishes information leading to the arrest of any person who has committed a criminal offense is authorized. [Ord. 3872 § 1, 1993.]
2.05.080 Reward eligibility.
In order to be eligible for the payment of a reward pursuant to ECC 2.05.040, the person furnishing such information must testify or be willing to testify at any hearing or trial held to determine the guilt or liability of the person or persons alleged to be responsible for the commission of the criminal act or acts.
The officers and employees of the city are ineligible for the payment of a reward. [Ord. 3872 § 1, 1993.]
2.05.120 Approval procedure.
After the occurrence of a criminal act within the city limits of Ellensburg and upon report of the city manager, the city council may by resolution approve the offer of a reward in such amount as the council may determine, which offer shall remain in effect for a time fixed in the resolution or until the person or persons responsible have been convicted. 2.05.160 Payment from general fund.
Reward payment shall be charged against the general fund from contributions available for that purpose. [Ord. 3872 § 1, 1993.]
2.05.200 Posting of notice.
The offer of reward shall be posted in conspicuous public places throughout the city and shall be widely distributed to the news media within the area. [Ord. 3872 § 1, 1993.]
2.05.240 Conflicting claims.
When more that one claimant applies for payment of any reward, the city council shall determine to whom the reward shall be paid, and if to more than one person, in what proportion to each. The determination of the city council shall be final and conclusive. [Ord. 3872 § 1, 1993.]
