10.12.020 State laws applicable – Exception.

The speed limits on all streets and other rights-of-way within the city shall be as set forth in RCW 46.61.400 except as set forth in this chapter. (Ord. 1106 § 3, 1991; Ord. 555 § 9, 1980).

10.12.030 Decrease of state law maximum speed.

10.12.050 School and playground speed limit zones.

Reduced speed limit zones are hereby established on the following streets when children are present, when school zone indicator lights are flashing, and/or during hours posted by the city manager or his designee:

10.12.060 Temporary reduction of speed limits.

The public works director is authorized to temporarily reduce the speed limits on any city street when, based upon his engineering analysis, a temporary reduction in speed limits is necessary to protect the public health, safety and welfare; provided, however, the speed limit may only be reduced for the duration of the temporary event that creates the hazard to the travelling public. The speed limit may be reduced by the public works director for special events that require the use of any portion of the city street, adverse weather conditions that make the street unsafe for travel at the posted speed limit, construction in the street right-of-way, and other similar temporary road hazards. The public works director will cause to be posted the affected portion of the city street with temporary speed limit signs. The reduction in speed limit shall remain in full force and effect until the signs are removed. (Ord. 1859 § 6, 2014; Ord. 1396 § 1, 2000; Ord. 1233 § 1, 1996).
