2.40.010 Established.

There is established and created a city police department to be known as the police department of the city of Goldendale.  (Ord. 1384 §1(part), 2009)

2.40.020 State statutes.

The police department and all personnel thereof shall be subject to and abide by all laws, rules and regulations covering police department personnel and particularly Chapter 41.12 RCW as applies to police department personnel, and as such rules, regulations and statutes may be revised or amended.  (Ord. 1384 §1(part), 2009)

2.40.030 Chief of police.

The police department and its members and personnel shall at all times be under the direction and control of the chief of police, subject to the direction of the mayor.  The chief of police shall be appointed and removed by the mayor, subject to confirmation of such action by at least five council persons.  The chief of police shall have charge and supervision of all personnel and property attached to the police department of the city, and shall make such rules and regulations as the chief of police determines are necessary for the supervising and conducting of the department and shall make all appointments of all employees of the department, with the approval of the mayor.  The chief of police shall do any and all other lawful acts as are for the good of the service, or as directed by the mayor.  (Ord. 1457 §2(part), 2015; Ord. 1384 §1(part), 2009)

2.40.040 Membership.

There is and shall be in the police department a chief of police and other full-time positions as the city council may from time to time determine.  (Ord. 1457 §2(part), 2015; Ord. 1384 §1(part), 2009)

2.40.050 Power and duties.

The personnel of the police department shall have such duties and exercise such powers as shall be from time to time determined by the city council or mayor, in accordance with federal, county, city and state laws, ordinances and statutes.  (Ord. 1384 §1(part), 2009)
