VEHICLE WEIGHT LIMITS

10.28.010 Local access streets.

Local access streets weight limits shall be designated sixteen thousand pounds gross vehicle weight. (Ord. 1389 §5 (part), 2009)

10.28.020 Truck routes.

All streets not considered local access streets shall be defined as truck routes for this chapter and shall be described as follows:

A.    Railroad Avenue;

B.    Columbus Street;

C.    Broadway Street (State Highway 142);

D.    Roosevelt Street;

E.    Collins Street (Columbus Street to the east city limits);

F.    Mill Street (from Broadway Street to the north city limits);

G.    Washington Street (from Broadway Street South to Darland Street);

H.    Darland Street (from Washington Street to the west city limits);

I.    Baker Street;

J.    Klickitat Street (from Railroad to Brooks Street);

K.    Brooks Street (from Klickitat Street East to Chatfield);

L.    Simcoe Drive;

M.    East Third Street;

N.    King Street (from East Third Street to Broadway);

O.    Mill Street (from Railroad Avenue to Nesbit Street);

P.    Bickleton Highway (from Broadway to the east city limits). (Ord. 1389 §5 (part), 2009)

10.28.030 School buses, emergency vehicles and delivery vehicles--Exception.

By general rule or by special permit the city public works department shall allow the operation of school buses, emergency vehicles, motor vehicles involved in pickup and delivery, and motor trucks transporting perishable commodities necessary for the health and welfare of local residents on such city streets as may be closed or restricted in accordance with RCW 46.44.080 subject to specific weight and speed restrictions as may be deemed necessary by the city public works department to protect the city streets from undue damage. 10.28.040 Damage liability.

Any person operating a vehicle or moving any object or conveyance upon a street in this city or upon a bridge or elevated structure which is a part of any street shall be liable for all damages which such street, bridge or elevated structure may sustain. (Ord. 1389 §5 (part), 2009)

10.28.050 Violation--Penalty.

Operation of any motor vehicle in violation of this chapter shall be a traffic infraction and shall be subject to assessment of such monetary penalty not exceeding two hundred fifty dollars. The fact that a vehicle which illegally exceeds the weight limitations is registered in the name of a person shall be considered prima facie proof that such person was in control of the vehicle at the time of such violation.
