15.56.010 Placement--Size.

The owner of each existing house in the city, and the owner of a new house within thirty days after the erection of such house within the city, shall cause to be placed in a conspicuous place, upon such house, where same may be seen from the street upon which such house is located, the number of such house, as provided in this chapter, such number to be four inches high, or three inches if reflective and to be of contrasting color.  Both sets of numbers must be easily distinguished from the street in front of such house.  (Ord. 1341 §1(part), 2005)

15.56.020 Procedure.

A.    All houses within the city limits lying south of the south boundary line of Main Street and facing upon streets running at right angles with Main Street shall be numbered from one hundred upward, beginning at Main Street, numbering thence south, each twenty-five feet in each block being one number greater, and each block south of Main Street shall be commenced with a new series of numbers one hundred greater than the beginning of the block north thereof.

B.    All houses within the city limits and lying north of the north boundary line of Main Street and facing upon streets running at right angles with Main Street, shall be numbered from one hundred upwards, beginning at Main Street and running thence north, in the manner above provided.

C.    All houses within the city limits, lying east of the east boundary line of Columbus Avenue and facing on streets running at right angles with Columbus Avenue, shall be numbered from one hundred upwards, beginning at Columbus Avenue, and numbering thence east, in the manner first above provided.

D.    All houses within the city and lying west of Columbus Avenue and facing on streets running at right angles with Columbus Avenue shall be numbered from one hundred upwards beginning at Columbus Avenue, and numbering thence west in the manner first above provided.

E.    On all streets running north and south, the houses on the east side thereof shall be numbered with the even numbers, and the houses on the west side thereof, with the odd numbers.

F.    On all streets running east and west, the houses on the south side thereof shall be numbered with the even numbers and the houses on the north side thereof with the odd numbers.  (Ord. 1341 §1(part), 2005)

15.56.030 Failure to comply--City responsibility.

Upon the failure of any owner of property to comply with the requirements of this chapter, the city may number such houses and add the cost thereof to the current water rent due from the owner or occupant of such premises, and collect the same in the manner other rent for water due the city is collected.  (Ord. 1341 §1(part), 2005)

15.56.040 Authority to assign house numbers.

Authority to assign house numbers is vested in the city building official who shall assign such numbers in accordance with other sections of this chapter and upon consideration of all related factors, including geographical location, type of structure, prior numbering and nature of area in which structure is located.  (Ord. 1341 §1(part), 2005)
