A. Duties of the Commission shall include the following:

1. Assess existing economic development policies for the purpose of recommending appropriate modifications necessary to achieve the economic goals adopted by the City Council;

2. Formulate and evaluate new economic development strategies and policies for the purpose of assuring achievement of the economic development goals adopted by the City Council;

3. Make recommendations on economic development programs and priorities to the Mayor;

4. Support and participate in economic development staff presentations to City Council, and provide a written report to the Mayor and Council every January on the ongoing projects under review by the Commission;

5. Carry out other duties as may be prescribed by City ordinance, or as directed by the Mayor.

B. In addition to the above, the Commission shall have the following authority:

1. Provide input to the Mayor regarding inadequacies in the City’s Building Code or Land Use Code which may hinder economic development.

2. Review, upon request by the Mayor, developments proposed within the City.

3. Review, upon request by the Mayor, the merits of planned economic proposals within the City.

4. Make recommendations on economic development programs and priorities. (Ord. 2940 § 2, 2021; Ord. 2759 § 1, 2016; Ord. 2645 § 1, 2012).
