2.55.010 Created – Director.

There is created and established a department in the city to be known as the department of community and economic development. The city manager shall appoint a qualified and suitable person to serve as director of such department, to serve at the pleasure of the city manager. (Ord. 2774 § 1, 2000; Ord. 2552 § 1, 1994; Ord. 1672 § 2, 1973).

2.55.020 Duties of director.

The director of the department of community and economic development shall administer and have responsibility in the following general areas, in addition to any other responsibilities delegated to such director by the city manager:

(1) Administer existing and future codes and ordinances of the city dealing with construction regulations and inspections;

(2) Administer zoning and subdivision legislation in accordance with the comprehensive plan of the city;

(3) The coordination of all zoning and construction permits, including environmental assessment and shoreline management permits and requirements;

(4) The coordination of intergovernmental affairs including citizen involvement, public information, public relations and state and federal aid. (Ord. 2774 § 1, 2000; Ord. 2552 § 1, 1994; Ord. 1672 § 2, 1973).

2.55.030 Building inspector – Duties.

All duties, responsibilities and authority heretofore performed or held by the “building inspector” or “building official” of the city shall continue to be performed and held by the building inspector of the city, who shall perform his duties and hold his responsibility and authority under the supervision and direction of the director of the department of community and economic development.
