KILLING AND SLAUGHTERING OF ANIMALS

9.20.010 Slaughtering or killing animals or fowl.

No person shall kill or slaughter any animal or fowl within the city.

A. Exceptions.

1. Any person authorized by the city of may dispatch or destroy certain animals or fowl, i.e., injured or vicious.

2. Any properly authorized and licensed kill facility located in an appropriate zone within the city.

B. Butchering is the meat cutting operation of a dead animal or fowl whose innards have already been removed. The butchering of animals and fowl is prohibited within the city limits unless such butchering is conducted within a licensed butcher shop/meat market; provided however, that the occasional or infrequent butchering of game animals or fowl is permitted within an enclosed structure.

9.20.020 Dressing or butchering.

No person shall dress or butcher an animal or fowl so as to unreasonably expose such act or acts to the view of any person on public or private property.

9.20.030 Violation—Penalty.

Any person violating any provisions of this chapter shall be deemed to have committed a civil infraction and shall be subject to a C-17 penalty.
