10.08.010 Duty of police department.

It shall be the duty of the police department, or such officers as are assigned by the police chief, to enforce this traffic code. (Ord. 06C-06 § 2; Ord. 451 § 1, 1978).

10.08.020 Statute adopted by reference – Authority of police and fire department.

The following state statute is adopted by reference:

10.08.030 School patrol – Appointment and authority.

A. It shall be within the power of the superintendent of schools of the city to cause to be appointed from the student body of any public school, students who shall be known as members of the “school patrol” and who shall serve without compensation and at the pleasure of the authority so making the appointment.

B. The members of such school patrol shall wear a badge or other appropriate insignia marked “school patrol” when in performance of their duties, and they are authorized to display “stop” or other proper traffic directional signs or signals at school crossings or other points where school children are crossing or about to cross a city street or highway, but such members of the school patrol shall be subordinate to and obey the orders of any police officer present and having jurisdiction. 10.08.040 Required obedience to traffic code.

It is unlawful for any person to do any act forbidden or fail to perform any act required in this title. (Ord. 451 § 1, 1978).

10.08.050 Statute adopted by reference – Violations punishable.

The following state statute is adopted by reference:
