2.68.010 Created.

There is created the department of emer­gency services. The purpose of said depart­ment shall be to formulate such rules and regulations as are necessary to help the city prepare for and deal with an emergency or disaster of the magnitude referred to in the pre­amble of the ordinance codified in this chapter. (Ord. 682 § 1, 1986: Ord. 637 § 1, 1984).

2.68.020 Director – Duties.

There is created the position of the director of the emergency services department, who shall be the city administrator unless otherwise appointed by the mayor and confirmed by a majority of the city council. The director shall be directly responsible to the mayor and shall be responsible for the organization, adminis­tration, and operation of emergency services within the city. The director shall prepare and maintain an emergency services plan as neces­sary to prepare the city to deal with an emer­gency or disaster. Any rules or regulations so promulgated shall be approved by the mayor prior to their effective date. (Ord. 988 § 5, 1996: Ord. 682 § 2, 1986: Ord. 637 § 2, 1984)

2.68.030 Coordination with Washington State Emergency Services Council.

A certified copy of the ordinance codified in this chapter shall be sent to the director of the Washington State Emergency Services Council and the director of the emergency ser­vices department shall coordinate his efforts with that of the director of the Washington State Emergency Services Council.
