8.24.020 Certain weeds designated.

The weeds to which this chapter will apply are the following:

A. Klamath Weed (Hypericum perforatum);

B. Canada Thistle (Cirsium arvense);

C. White Top (Cardaria draba, c. draba var. repens and c. pubescens);

8.24.030 Weed supervisor – Duty of citizens.

To prevent the spread of the weeds set forth in OCC 8.24.020, all property owners are advised that it is necessary to the success of the weed-control program that these weeds be prevented from seeding on all land under their care and that all infestations of these weeds be reported to the county weed supervisor’s office, which are not being prevented from seeding. The county will maintain a weed supervisor whose first duty will be to advise farmers as to the best methods in weed control and who will cause the weeds set forth in OCC 8.24.020 to be controlled on county road rights-of-way and obtain, insofar as possible, the cooperation of government agencies in the control of these weeds. (Ord. M-351, 1953).

8.24.040 Methods of eradicating.

Methods that are applicable are any that will prevent production of seed, including cutting, chemical spraying and/or cultivation, and the entire expense of the operation upon private lands is to be that of the property owner. (Ord. M-351, 1953).

8.24.050 Voluntary participation.

Participation in this program shall be on a voluntary basis and the objectives shall be educational until changed by the board, and no such change shall be made until a public hearing, good and sufficient notice of which has been given, has been called by the board. (Ord. M-351, 1953).

A. The position of noxious weed control coordinator shall be appointed on an annual basis by the noxious weed control board.
