6.0 PROCEDURE

6.1    There will be an Employee Wellness Committee that will be responsible for providing input and assistance to the Human Resources and Risk Management Administrator in the development and implementation of a City-wide wellness and health promotion program. The Human Resources and Risk Management Administrator, or his/her designee, will designate a chair, and the Wellness Committee will elect a recording secretary to preside over monthly meetings or as the Committee deems necessary.

6.2    Each department is encouraged to appoint at least one representative to the Committee. Larger departments such as Public Works, Community Services, and Community and Economic Development are encouraged to appoint at least two representatives. Management personnel are also encouraged to participate as Committee members. All appointments are to be approved by the Department Administrator. All representatives will serve two-year terms with staggered appointment dates.

6.3    In addition to City employees, each of the Employee Representative organizations and the City of Renton Employees’ Health Plan Board of Trustees are encouraged to appoint one member to the Committee.

6.4    At least once every two years, the Wellness Committee will develop and approve a recommended plan, that includes a vision, mission, and specific goals and actions to be taken to promote and improve employee health and wellness, and that is responsive to the needs and interests of the City’s workforce. The purpose of the plan is to suggest ways to focus and direct resources to the areas of greatest impact to improve employee health and wellness.
