1.0 PURPOSE:

To establish a policy/procedure for the review and approval of water main, fire hydrants, and fire service main plans prior to installation.

4.0 POLICY:

The City of Renton desires to coordinate the approval of all water main, fire hydrant, and fire service main installation plans in accordance with adopted City ordinances.

5.0 DEFINITIONS:

Not applicable.

6.0 PROCEDURE:

6.1    Water Main, Fire Hydrant, and Fire Service Main Plan Review Process

6.1.1    Application is filed with the appropriate Public Works Department or Water District.

6.1.2    Plans shall be prepared according to City of Renton Public Works Department specifications.

6.1.3    Two (2) copies of plans shall be routed to the Renton Fire Prevention Bureau or King County Fire Marshal for review within two (2) days of submission, or as expeditiously as possible.

6.1.4    Normal turn-around time for Fire Prevention review is seven (7) days.

6.1.5    If plans are approved as submitted, final drawings may be signed off by the Fire Marshal and water utility installation permit issued.

6.1.6    If plans are not approved or corrections are required, approval shall be withheld until needed corrections are made.

6.1.7    Copies of approved drawings shall be kept on file with the Public Works Department and King County Water District, where applicable.
