MAINTENANCE AND TESTING

18.28.010 Ownership vested in city.

All water mains and valves, service lines and curb stops up to the point of delivery, and water meters, shall be the property of the city and shall be under the exclusive control of the department. [Ord. 80 § 7.01; Ord. 07-05].

18.28.020 Maintenance by department.

It shall be the exclusive responsibility of the department to maintain, repair, or replace any water main, hydrant, valve, city-owned service line, city-owned curb stops, or water meter. [Ord. 80 § 7.02; Ord. 07-05].

18.28.030 Meter tests.

The department will at the city’s expense make periodic tests and inspections of meters in order to maintain a high standard of accuracy. When a test of a water meter is requested by a customer, the customer shall make a deposit of $50.00 before such test is made. If the test discloses an error of three percent or less, no adjustments in bills will be made and the deposit will be retained as a charge of $50.00 for the test. If the test discloses an error in excess of three percent, a correction will be made in the billing for the previous billing period, no charge will be made for the test, and the deposit will be refunded.
