2.16.010 Municipal court established.

There is established the municipal court of the city of Shelton which shall operate under provisions of Chapter 3.50 RCW and pursuant to the Washington State Court Rules. (Ord. 1805-0512 § 1 (part), 2012: Ord. 1600-0903 § 1, 2003: Ord. 1328-991 § 1, 1991)

2.16.020 Appointment and term of municipal court judge.

The judge of the municipal court shall be part-time and be appointed by the mayor, with the confirmation of at least one of the councilmembers, on or before December 1, 1991, for a term of four years commencing January 1, 1992. 2.16.030 Qualifications of municipal court judge.

The person appointed as part-time municipal judge shall be a citizen of the United States of America and the state of Washington and an attorney admitted to the practice of law before the courts of record of the state of Washington. The judge must reside full-time in Mason County. (Ord. 1805-0512 § 1 (part), 2012: Ord. 1328-991 § 3, 1991)

2.16.040 Salary of municipal court judge.

The salary of the municipal court judge shall be fixed by ordinance adopted before the commencement of the first term. The salary of the judge shall not be reduced during any judge’s four-year term. (Ord. 1805-0512 § 1 (part), 2012: Ord. 1328-991 § 4, 1991)

2.16.045 Responsibilities of municipal court judge as presiding judge.

In addition to his/her other duties as municipal court judge, as presiding judge, the municipal court judge shall be charged with all duties and responsibilities outlined in the Washington Court Rules applicable to a presiding judge in a limited jurisdiction court. 2.16.050 Municipal division of district court abolished and terminated.

The municipal division of the district court heretofore established under Chapter 3.46 RCW shall be abolished and terminated effective midnight December 31, 1991. The city manager shall give written notice as required under RCW 3.46.150 to the Mason County Commission of such termination and do all other things as may be required by said statute in order to effectuate such termination and establishment of the municipal court established in this chapter. 2.16.060 Removal of judge.

The judge shall be subject to removal consistent with Chapter 3.50 RCW and State Constitutional provisions establishing the Committee on Judicial Conduct. (Ord. 1805-0512 § 1 (part), 2012)
