17.125.010 Authorization to initiate amendments.

An amendment to the text or the zoning map of this title may be initiated by the city council, the planning commission upon motion of said body or proper petition/application of a citizen of the city of Tonasket or a property owner or his authorized agent. (Ord. 778 § 2 (Exh. A), 2017).

17.125.020 Application and fee.

An application or petitions for amendment to the text of this title or the official zoning map shall be made in accordance with Chapter 19.05 TMC. (Ord. 786 § 2 (Exh. B), 2017; Ord. 778 § 2 (Exh. A), 2017).

17.125.040 Action of the planning commission.

A. Prior to taking action, the commission shall hold at least one public hearing in accordance with the procedures described in Chapter 19.05 TMC. Following the termination of the hearing, the commission shall transmit its recommendation to the city council together with findings of fact stating the reasons for the action.

B. The planning commission may recess a hearing on an amendment to the zoning title in order to obtain additional information. Upon recessing for this purpose the planning commission shall announce the time and date when the hearing will be resumed. (Ord. 786 § 2 (Exh. B), 2017; Ord. 778 § 2 (Exh. A), 2017).

17.125.050 Action of the city council.

After holding a public hearing to consider the findings and recommendations of the planning commission, the council shall have the authority to confirm, reject or alter any of the commission’s recommendations. (Ord. 778 § 2 (Exh. A), 2017).

17.125.060 Exception – New hearing.

No request for an amendment to the text or the zoning map of this title shall be considered by the planning commission within the 12-month period immediately following a previous denial of such request, except the planning commission may consent to a new hearing, if in the opinion of the planning commission, new evidence of a change of circumstances warrants it. 17.125.070 Zoning of annexations.

At the time of the official public hearing on any proposed annexation to the city, the planning commission shall recommend a zone classification of the area to be annexed, which recommendation shall be in keeping with the comprehensive plan. The city council shall stipulate the precise zoning classification of the area to be annexed as a part of the annexation ordinance. (Ord. 778 § 2 (Exh. A), 2017).
