5.31.005 Incorporation by reference.
The city of Walla Walla hereby incorporates by reference Chapter 46.72 RCW and Chapter 308-89 WAC. (Ord. 2005-37 § 2(part), 2005).
5.31.015 Business registration required.
No person shall cause operation of a taxicab or for-hire vehicle in the city of Walla Walla without first filing and maintaining a current business registration with the city of Walla Walla. The Walla Walla city manager and his or her designee are authorized to endorse to the Washington State Department of Licensing that taxicab and for-hire vehicle businesses validly registered with the city of Walla Walla are authorized to operate such businesses within the city upon receipt of all required permits, certificates, and licenses from the Department of Licensing and compliance with all statutes, rules, and regulations regarding operation of for-hire vehicles. The city manager may revoke the business registration of any person who fails to obtain or maintain all required permits, certificates, and licenses from the Department of Licensing or who violates or fails to comply with statutes, rules, or regulations regarding operation of for-hire vehicles. 5.31.025 Permit and business license required.
No person shall cause operation of a taxicab or for-hire vehicle in the city of Walla Walla without first obtaining, possessing, and displaying a valid permit and for-hire business license from the Washington State Department of Licensing. No person may continue to cause operation of a taxicab or for-hire vehicle if its permit or for-hire business license has expired or has been suspended or revoked. (Ord. 2005-37 § 2(part), 2005).
5.31.035 Insurance or bond certificate required.
No person shall cause operation of a taxicab or for-hire vehicle in the city of Walla Walla without first obtaining, possessing, and displaying a certificate approving the bond or insurance policy deposited and kept on file with the Washington State Department of Licensing. No person may continue to cause operation of a taxicab or for-hire vehicle if its certificate has expired or has been suspended or revoked. (Ord. 2005-37 § 2(part), 2005).
5.31.045 Vehicle certificates required.
No vehicle may be operated as a taxicab or for-hire vehicle in the city of Walla Walla unless it has been issued and displays a valid vehicle certificate by the Washington State Department of Licensing. No vehicle may continue to be operated as a taxicab or for-hire vehicle if its vehicle certificate has expired or has been suspended or revoked. (Ord. 2005-37 § 2(part), 2005).
5.31.055 Operator’s license required.
No person shall operate a taxicab or for-hire vehicle in the city of Walla Walla without first obtaining and possessing all valid operator licenses and certifications required by the state of Washington. No person may operate a taxicab or for-hire vehicle if his or her license(s) or certification(s) has expired or has been suspended or revoked. (Ord. 2005-37 § 2(part), 2005).
5.31.065 Violation.
Any person who negligently causes operation of a taxicab or for-hire vehicle in the city of Walla Walla in violation of any of the requirements of this chapter, Chapter 46.72 RCW, or Chapter 308‑89 WAC shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable as provided in Section 1.24.010 of this code.
