2.04.010 First meeting – Qualification.

The council of the town shall meet on the second Tuesday in January succeeding the date of any general municipal election and shall qualify by taking the oath of office. (Ord. 31 § 1).

2.04.020 Regular meetings – Date and time.

The regular meeting of the council of the town shall be held on the first and third Monday of each month, excepting legal holidays under the laws of the state, at the hour of 6:30 p.m. (Ord. 740 § 1, 2013; Ord. 31 § 2).

2.04.030 Special meetings.

Special meetings of the council may be called at any time by the mayor of the town or by three councilmen, by written notice delivered to each member, at least 24 hours before the time specified for the proposed meeting. Notice shall be give 24 hours in advance to each local newspaper of general circulation and to each local radio or television station which has on file with the town a written request to be notified of such special meeting or all special meetings. Notice shall be given in accord with RCW 42.30.080. (Ord. 563 § 2, 1996; Ord. 31 § 3).

2.04.040 Adjournment.

Regular or special meetings of said council may be adjourned from time to time as convenience may require. (Ord. 31 § 4).

2.04.050 Place.

All meetings of the council shall be held in the Town Hall of the town within the corporate limits of the town. (Ord. 563 § 3, 1996; Ord. 30 § 3).

2.04.055 Council members – Remote attendance.

The council members may attend up to 12 regular council meetings per year via videoconferencing, telephone, or any readily available alternative (“remote attendance”). (Ord. 841 § 1, 2022).

2.04.060 Refusal to attend – Penalty – Exception.

Every councilman who willfully absents himself from any regular meeting of the council, or who willfully refuses to attend any lawfully called special meeting of the council, or who, being present, refuses to vote upon any question without being excused by the council, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, shall be punishable as set forth in WMC 1.16.010; provided, that no councilman shall be compelled to or permitted to vote on any question in which he is personally interested. 2.04.070 Salaries – Council members (effective until January 1, 2026).

A. The salary for each person holding council positions 1 and 2 shall be $50.00 per council meeting attended by them effective January 1, 2018.

B. The salary for each person holding council positions 3, 4 and 5 shall be $75.00 per council meeting attended by them effective January 1, 2024. (Ord. 852 § 1, 2023; Ord. 785 § 1, 2017).

2.04.070 Salaries – Council members (effective January 1, 2026).

A. The salary for each person holding council positions 1 and 2 shall be $75.00 per council meeting attended by them effective January 1, 2026.

B. The salary for each person holding council positions 3, 4 and 5 shall be $75.00 per council meeting attended by them effective January 1, 2024. (Ord. 852 § 1, 2023; Ord. 785 § 1, 2017).

2.04.080 Salary – Mayor.

The salary for the person holding the office of mayor shall be $1,200 per month. (Ord. 805 § 1, 2019; Ord. 785 § 2, 2017).
