2.16.010 Created – Membership.

There is created and established a board of park commissioners of the town, to be designated “board of park commissioners of Waterville, Washington.” Said board shall be comprised of seven persons to be appointed by the mayor of the town, and they shall serve at the pleasure of the mayor of the town and without compensation. (Ord. 232 § 1, 1944; Ord. 99 § 3, 1913).

2.16.020 Powers.

The board of park commissioners shall have control and supervision of all parks belonging to the town and shall have power to prescribe rules and regulations for the government and management thereof. (Ord. 563 § 7, 1996; Ord. 99 § 4, 1913).

2.16.030 Chairman – Clerk.

The mayor shall name one of the members of the board of park commissioners as chairman thereof and may remove any chairman thereof and appoint a successor therefor at his pleasure. The clerk/treasurer of the town shall be ex officio the clerk of the board. (Ord. 99 § 5, 1913).

2.16.040 Appointment procedure – Oath of office.

The appointment of any member of the board or removal of any member therefrom shall be in writing signed by the mayor, delivered to the council of the town at a regular meeting thereof, and shall be spread on the minutes of the meeting. Any person appointed as a member of the board shall qualify by taking an oath to faithfully discharge the duties of his trust as park commissioner. (Ord. 99 § 6, 1913).

2.16.050 Expense payment.

All expenses of the board shall be audited and paid as other claims against the town are audited and paid, and shall be paid out of the park fund, unless otherwise ordered by the council of the town. (Ord. 99 § 7, 1913).

2.16.060 Initial appointment.

Immediately upon taking effect of the ordinance codified in this section and WMC 2.16.010, the mayor of the town shall appoint seven members who shall constitute the board of park commissioners. (Ord. 232 § 3, 1944).
