3.32.010 Filing requirements – Council action.

Claims made and presented against the town shall be in writing and in itemized form, and shall be filed with the town clerk/treasurer and by him preserved and recorded at the next regular meeting of the town council. Such claims shall be read aloud by the clerk/treasurer and allowed or rejected by a majority vote of the members of the council present and voting; provided, that no claim shall be allowed unless at least three of the council shall vote in favor of such allowance; and provided further, that if the council shall be doubtful as to the justness or correctness of any claim, such claim may, by a majority vote of the council, be referred to a committee of two, to be appointed by the mayor, or the mayor pro tempore and shall then lie upon the table until the next regular meeting of the council and the report of said committee.
