5.04.010 License required when – Fee – Exceptions.

All persons engaged in peddling or soliciting orders for the sale of jewelry, salves, linens, drugs, cutlery, curtains, medicines, meats, groceries, and provisions, drygoods, furnishing goods, clothes, dress goods, rugs, carpets, statuary, pictures, picture frames, books, maps, charts or other publications other than newspapers or magazines, or for any other goods, wares or merchandise within the town, shall first obtain a license therefor and be required to pay a fee of $20.00 per day for each and every day engaged therein; provided, the provisions of this section shall not apply to such persons as are engaged in selling to or soliciting orders from dealers either wholesale or retail, permanently established in business in the town or to those soliciting orders from residents of the town for merchants and dealers, either wholesale or retail, regularly and permanently established within the town, or to those selling the products of their own labor, industry or manufacture; except as provided in this chapter; provided, however, that this section shall not apply to tillers of the soil selling products thereof produced by them. 5.04.020 Certificate of manufacture required when.

Any person peddling or soliciting orders for products of their own labor, industry or manufacture shall file with the town clerk/treasurer a statement sworn to before the town clerk/treasurer to the effect that said goods, wares or merchandise are or is the product of his or their own labor, industry or manufacture; provided, however, that this section shall not apply to tillers of the soil selling their own products. (Ord. 183 § 2, 1924).

5.04.030 Violation – Penalty.

Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished as set forth in WMC 1.16.010, and each and every day such person, firm or corporation shall solicit or sell without a license as provided for under this chapter shall be and constitute a separate offense.
