5.12.010 License tax levied – Amount.

A license tax of $100.00 per day, for the purpose of regulation and revenue, is levied on the business of selling or offering for sale, giving or offering to give, or otherwise disposing of or offering to dispose of as a premium, prize, award, reward or bonus or for any other purpose, any goods, wares, or merchandise or other thing of value within the town at, during, or in connection with, a traveling show, exhibition, or other form of entertainment or amusement which is conducted within the town. 5.12.020 License issuance authorized when.

Any person, persons or corporation who engages in either of the businesses enumerated in WMC 5.12.010 within the territorial limits respectively specified, shall pay to the town clerk/treasurer in advance for each day on which said business shall be carried on the sum of $100.00 for the use of said town, as a license tax, for the carrying on of any such business. When any person, persons or corporation shall pay to the town clerk/treasurer such sum of money for the privilege of carrying on or conducting such business for such day, the clerk/treasurer shall issue a receipt for the same, and upon the presentation of such receipt to the town clerk/treasurer of the town, he shall issue a license to the proper person, persons or corporation, authorizing the carrying on or conducting of such business for the day and date specified in said receipt. 5.12.030 Violation – Penalty.

It is unlawful for any person, persons or corporation to conduct or carry on any of such businesses as are specified in this chapter without having first procured a license therefor, and any person, persons, or corporation or agent, or representative thereof who violates any of the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable as set forth in WMC 1.16.010.
