10.16.010 Purpose – Construction.

This chapter is declared to be an exercise of the police power of the town for the public safety, and its provisions shall be liberally construed for the accomplishment of that purpose. (Ord. 207 § 1, 1936).

10.16.020 Definitions – Generally.

The words and phrases used in this chapter shall for the purpose of this chapter have the meanings relatively ascribed to them. (Ord. 207 § 2, 1936).

10.16.030 Truck categories defined.

A. “Motor trucks” includes every motor vehicle designed or used:

1. For the transportation of commodities, merchandise, produce, freight or animals;

2. For drawing or propelling one or more independent vehicles or trailers in the transportation of commodities, merchandise, produce, freight or animals upon a public street or highway.

B. “Person” includes every natural person, firm, copartnership, association or corporation.

C. “Semi-trailer” includes every vehicle of the trailer type so designed and used in conjunction with a motor vehicle that some part of its own weight and that of its own load rests upon or is carried by another vehicle.

D. “Trailer” includes any vehicle without motive power which is attached to a motor vehicle for the purpose of being drawn or propelled by such motor vehicle. (Ord. 207 § 3, 1936).

10.16.040 Limited time parking area designated.

It is unlawful for any person to stand or park any motor truck and/or trailer and/or semi-trailer upon that portion of Locust Street between Chelan Avenue up to a line extending from the west boundary line of Lot 8, Block 5, original town, on the south side of said street northward to the west boundary line of Lot 21, Block 4, original town, on the north side of said street in the town, and on each side of Chelan Avenue from Locust Street northward even with the alley now established immediately north of Lot 28, of Block 4, original town, and the north boundary of Lot 6, Block 2, Kincaid’s Addition to the town, for a longer period than 15 minutes at one parking, and then only for the purpose of loading or unloading merchandise, freight or other commodities. (Ord. 207 § 4, 1936).

10.16.050 Violation – Penalty.

Any person who violates any of the provisions of this chapter or who counsels, aids, or abets any such violation shall be deemed guilty of an infraction and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a monetary fine not to exceed $250.00.
