10.04.010 Adoption by reference.

The Washington Model Traffic Ordinance, Chapter 308-330 WAC, is hereby adopted by reference as a traffic ordinance of the city of West Richland as if set forth in full. [Ord. 3-95 § 1, 1995; Ord. 249 § 1, 1977].

10.04.020 Filing procedure.

Incident to the adoption of the Model Traffic Ordinance by reference by this chapter, a copy of the text of the adopted Model Traffic Ordinance shall be filed as required by RCW 35A.12.140 for use and examination by the public. [Ord. 3-95 § 2, 1995; Ord. 249 § 5, 1977].

10.04.030 Fines and forfeitures – Disposition.

All fines or forfeitures collected upon conviction or upon the forfeiture of bail of any person charged with a violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall be paid into the general fund of the city. [Ord. 249 § 3, 1977].

10.04.040 Official misconduct – Grounds for removal from office.

Failure, refusal, or neglect on the part of any judicial or other officer or employee receiving or having custody of any such fine or forfeiture of bail, either before or after a deposit in the general fund, to comply with the provisions of WRMC 10.04.030 shall constitute misconduct in office and shall be grounds for removal therefrom, provided appropriate removal action is taken pursuant to state law relating to removal of public officials. 10.04.045 Authority of officer.

Whenever a driver is stopped for a traffic infraction, the officer may detain that driver for a reasonable period of time necessary to: (A) identify the driver; (B) determine the status of the license of the driver; (C) determine the status of the insurance coverage for the vehicle; (D) determine the status of the vehicle’s registration; (E) determine if there are any outstanding warrants for the driver; and (F) issue a notice of traffic infraction. [Ord. 21-97 § 1, 1997].

10.04.050 Penalty for violation.

The penalty provisions of Chapter 308-330 WAC are hereby adopted by reference as if fully set forth in this chapter. [Ord. 42-95 § 6, 1995; Ord. 249 § 2, 1977].
