2.28.010 Appointment--Organization.
Law enforcement in the Town shall be accomplished by a police force appointed by and at the pleasure of the Mayor; provided, however, the Police Chief shall be confirmed by the Council. Said police force to consist of a Police Chief and a number of deputies and reserve deputies, the number of said deputies to be determined from time to time by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Town Council, as maintenance of the public peace and safety may, by the mayor, be found to require. 2.28.020 Duties generally.
Duties of law enforcement officers of the Town shall be performed as prescribed by the Mayor and shall be to preserve public peace, safety, health and welfare, pursuant to applicable law and regulation. (Ord. 38 § 3, 1960)
2.28.030 Qualifications.
Qualifications required of candidates for appointment by the Mayor to the office of Police Chief, deputy or reserve deputy include but are not limited to good moral character, resident elector, sound health and temperament and such additional requirements as may from time to time be duly and regularly prescribed by the Town Council.
