6.48.015 Statutes adopted.

The following Revised Code of Washington (RCW) sections, as currently enacted or as hereafter amended or recodified from time to time, are hereby adopted by reference and shall be given the same force and effect as if set forth herein in full:

6.48.060 Willful interference with a police dog.

A.    It shall be unlawful for any person, under circumstances not amounting to “harming a police dog,” as defined in RCW 9A.76.200, to willfully or maliciously interfere with, obstruct, torture, beat, kick, strike, or in any way abuse or harass any police dog or otherwise interfere with or attempt to interfere with a police officer’s use of any police dog while discharging or attempting to discharge the duties of the police officer.

B.    As used in this section, “police dog” is a dog used by any law enforcement agency which dog has been specially trained for law enforcement and which dog is under the control of a law enforcement officer.

C.    Willful interference with a police dog is a misdemeanor. (Ord. 2002-29 § 1, 2002).

6.48.070 Unauthorized communications with prisoners—Unauthorized transport of articles.

A.    It is unlawful for any person, other than a police officer or a person authorized by the detention facility custodian, to verbally communicate with any prisoner in any city of Yakima or Yakima County detention facility, or to transport or cause to be transported into or out of such facility any writing, clothing, food or other article whatsoever.

B.    It is unlawful for any person to loiter in or about any city of Yakima or Yakima County detention facility for the purpose of engaging in any conduct prohibited by subsection A of this section.
