PERMITS FOR LOGGING TRUCKS*

9.28.010 Required.

Any person, firm, or corporation who uses any county road for the purpose of transporting logs with weight authorized by state highway log tolerance permits shall first obtain a special county permit therefor in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.

9.28.020 Fee.

Each special permit shall be issued by the county engineer upon payment of a fee of five dollars, which fee shall be deposited in the county road fund.

9.28.030 Limited to Single Route.

The special permit provided for herein shall be known as a “Yakima County Log Tolerance Permit” and shall designate the route to be used, which shall first be approved by the county engineer. Each permit shall be limited to a single route and shall be valid only on the county road or roads specified thereon. Authorization of each additional route shall be made by issuance of a new permit. Permits shall be issued on a yearly basis expiring on March 31st of each calendar year.

9.28.040 Issuance Prerequisite.

No such special county permit shall be issued unless the person, firm, or corporation making application therefor shall be in possession of a valid state highway log tolerance permit.

9.28.050 Restricted Roads and Bridges.

Special permits as herein provided shall be void on any county road or bridge upon which is posted a restriction of gross vehicle load.

9.28.060 Violation – Penalty.

Any person, firm, or corporation who uses any county road for the purpose of transporting logs with weight authorized by state highway log tolerance permits without first obtaining a county permit as herein provided is guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to the penalties prescribed by RCW Title 46, and RCW 46.44.045, which is incorporated by reference herein and made a part hereof.
