Article I. Assault Generally
9.12.005 Threatening behavior.
A. It is unlawful for any person to communicate, directly or indirectly, the intent to cause bodily injury to another person or the intent to cause physical damage to property of another.
B. Penalties for Violation. Any person convicted of violating one of the provisions of subsection (A) of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor. The person may be fined in an amount of up to $1,000, imprisoned for an amount of time of up to six months, or both such fine and imprisonment. (Ord. 637 §§ 1a, 2, 1988)
9.12.010 Assault defined – Prohibited.
An “assault” is an attempt in a rude, insolent manner to unlawfully beat or touch or strike or wound another person coupled with a present ability to carry such attempt into execution. Any such assault is a misdemeanor. (Ord. 402 § 10, 1975)
9.12.020 Assault and battery defined – Prohibited.
“Assault and battery” is the unlawful beating of another, and a person duly convicted thereof shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor. (Ord. 402 § 11, 1975)
9.12.030 Violation – Penalty.
Any person failing to comply or violating any provision of this article or who is convicted of having committed a misdemeanor, unless otherwise provided, shall be punished by a fine of not more than $100.00 or by imprisonment in the city jail for not more than 30 days or both such fine and imprisonment. There is by this section incorporated into the penal code of the city the following statutes of the state which are incorporated by reference:

9.12.050 Violation – Penalty.
Any person who shall violate any provision of this article shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction thereof may be fined in an amount not more than $500.00, or confined in jail an amount of time not to exceed six months, or both such fine and imprisonment. (Ord. 514 § 2, 1984)
