8.12.010 Seasonal restrictions.

A.  The provisions of this section shall apply to all areas within the county outside the limits of incorporated towns and cities from June 1st to October 1st of every year.

B.  No person shall burn or cause to be burned any trash, leaves, straw, stubble, brush, logs, stumps, or any other combustible material in any street, alley, road, land, or upon any public grounds or upon any private lot or tract of land unless a permit therefor has first been obtained. Such permit shall be issued by the sheriff. No such permit shall be issued for any period in excess of ten days.

C.  No burning shall be done within twenty-five feet of any combustible wall, fence or structure.

D.  Any person to whom a permit is issued under this chapter shall, from the time a fire is kindled until the time it is extinguished, have such fire continuously under the care and direction of a competent person, who shall take proper precautions to prevent the spread of such fire to adjacent property or materials and to keep or maintain the fire under full control.

E.  Any person who violates any provision of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor. (Prior code § 9.09.020)
