2.44.010 Regular council meetings and workshops.

The city council shall hold the following regularly scheduled meetings:

(1) Regular Council Meetings. 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.

(2) Special Council Meetings. May be scheduled at the discretion of the mayor and council according to the Stanwood city council rules of procedure and RCW 35A.12.110 and 42.30.080. 2.44.020 Council positions.

(1) In accordance with RCW 35A.12.010, the number of council member positions in the city of Stanwood is hereby increased from five to seven.

(2) The city council shall, by majority vote, pursuant to RCW 35A.12.050, appoint two persons to serve in the two newly created council member positions until the next municipal general election, at which election one person shall be elected for a two-year term and one person shall be elected for a four-year term. 2.44.025 Meeting locations.

The city council shall hold all meetings at the Stanwood Camano School District Administration Building, located at 26920 Pioneer Highway, Stanwood, Washington, unless:

(1) Notice has been given, as required by SMC 2.44.010, for a special meeting, which states an alternate location; or

(2) The meeting is convened in council chambers and moved to another location for review of city business, or for the convenience of the council. (Ord. 1205 § 1, 2007; Ord. 1186 § 1, 2006; Ord. 1134 § 1, 2003).

2.44.270 City boards and commissions.

The power of the boards, commissions, and committees of the city to adopt their own rules is preserved to them. In the absence of a particular rule or set of rules, the terms of the city council rules of procedure shall govern the affairs of such city bodies. (Ord. 1134 § 1, 2003; Ord. 392 § 27, 1973).
