FIREMEN’S RELIEF AND PENSION FUND

1.47.010 Creation of firemen’s relief and pension fund.

There is hereby created a special fund to be designated the firemen’s relief and pension fund, which shall be made up of all taxes levied for such purposes, all assessments made upon members of the fire department and bequests, fees, gifts, emoluments or donations given or paid into the same or to any of the members of the fire department except otherwise designated by the donor. 1.47.030 Taxes from the budget.

All levies of taxes made by the city council in the budget for said fund shall be paid into the same as soon as they are collected as well as all other moneys received therefor from any and all sources. (Ord. 2022-007 § 7, 2022; Ord. A-573 § 3, 1921).

1.47.040 Paying money out of fund.

All moneys paid out of said fund shall be upon proper vouchers by warrant drawn by the city clerk upon order of the board of trustees entered upon its records. (Ord. A-573 § 4, 1921).

1.47.050 Board of trustees.

The firemen’s relief and pension fund shall be under the management and control of a board of trustees consisting of the mayor of the city, the city clerk, director of finance and budget and two members of the fire department chosen by it by ballot in the manner prescribed by law. The mayor shall be the chairman of the board. The board shall select and appoint a secretary by majority vote of the board members present at any regular board meeting. The secretary may, but need not be a member of the board. (Ord. 98-24 § 1 (part), 1998: Ord. 93-43 § 2, 1993: Ord. A-573 § 5, 1921).

1.47.060 Board of trustees—Meetings—Rules.

The board of trustees shall meet at least once monthly, the date, time and place as may be prescribed by the board. It shall make all such rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry out the purpose for which it is created, and shall in all respects proceed in accordance with and be governed by the terms and provisions of RCW Chapter 41.16.
