3-5-1 Planning and Zoning Commission

There is hereby established a planning and zoning commission for the Town of Oro Valley to consist of not less than five nor more than seven members, each of whom shall be a resident of the town, to be appointed by the council. The members of the planning commission shall serve at the pleasure of the council for two-year terms providing nothing herein shall affect the expiration of the current terms of said planning commission. The members of the planning commission shall serve without compensation; however, members may be reimbursed for actual expenses incurred in connection with their duties upon authorization or ratification by the commission and approval of such expenditures by the council.

3-5-2 Town Zoning Code

That certain document entitled the “Oro Valley Zoning Code Revised” as adopted by Ordinance No. 58, 12 March, 1981 and amendments thereto is made a part of this chapter the same as though specifically set forth in full herein; and at least three copies of which shall be filed in the office of the town clerk and kept available for public use and inspection.

3-5-3 Planning and Zoning Director

There is hereby created the office of planning and zoning director. The planning and zoning director shall be appointed by the town manager and shall be charged with responsibility for enforcement of the zoning code. The town manager may appoint assistants to the planning and zoning director with or without specific duties.

3-5-4 Conceptual Design Review Board

A.    There is hereby established a Conceptual Design Review Board (CDRB) for the Town of Oro Valley to consist of up to nine (9) voting members, each of whom shall be a resident of the Town.

B.    The members shall be appointed by the Council and shall serve at the pleasure of the Council for a maximum of two (2) three (3) year terms.

C.    The members of the CDRB shall serve without compensation; however, members may be reimbursed for actual expenses incurred in connection with their duties upon authorization or ratification by the Board and approval of the expenditures by the Council.

D.    The Planning and Zoning Administrator or his or her designated representatives, and one (1) member of the Town Council appointed by the Town Council as a liaison to the CDRB, shall meet with the Board on a regular basis in order to offer advice and technical assistance but shall not vote.

3-5-5 Board of Adjustment

A.    The Town of Oro Valley Board of Adjustment shall consist of five members. Members shall serve two year terms. Members must be Oro Valley residents. Members will be appointed to the Board of Adjustment by the Town Council as per the adopted policy for “Appointments to Boards, Commissions and Advisory Bodies of the Town.”
