UNLAWFUL DEPOSIT OF MATERIALS

8.12.010 Throwing matter upon streets.1

It is unlawful for any person to dump any sweepings, yard litter, garbage, weeds, grass, leaves, accumulation of dirt, or refuse matter of any kind into the gutter of any street, alley or in or on any street, sidewalk, footpath or any public place or upon any vacant lot or other private premises in the city. 8.12.020 Debris — Depositing.

It is unlawful for any person to deposit upon any lot or block of land, street, lane, alley or court within the limits of the city, and sweepings from any shop or store, or any paper, feathers, straw, broken glass or crockery, rubbish, garbage or manure, or any other debris of any kind, character or description; provided, however, that nothing in the provisions of this chapter shall be so construed as to prohibit the depositing upon any lot or block of land within the limits of the city, after first having obtained the consent of the council to do so, broken rock, brick, sand or gravel or any dirt clean and clear of any refuse matter or garbage, where the same is so deposited for the purpose of filling in the lot or block of land. 8.12.030 Petaluma River — Rubbish, deposits and discharges prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person to throw or cause or permit to be thrown, placed or deposited into the Petaluma River or any tributary thereof, or any channel leading into such river in the city, any rubbish or indissoluble matter whatsoever.

It is unlawful and a public nuisance for any person to discharge or cause or allow or permit to be discharged into the Petaluma River, within or upstream from the boundaries of the city, any sewage, slops, urine, dung, excrement or other feculent matter, or any feathers, flesh or dead animals, or any kind of industrial or other wastes or waste matter, whether soluble or insoluble.
