The 2010 California Green Building Standards Code (2010 CGC), California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 11, as published by the California Building Standards Commission and any rules and regulations promulgated pursuant thereto, be and the same is hereby adopted as the Green Building Code of the City of Coronado, California. (Ord. 2018 § 2 (Att. A), 2010)

The purpose of the 2010 CGC is to improve public health, safety and general welfare by enhancing the design and construction of buildings through the use of building concepts having a reduced negative impact or positive environmental impact and encouraging sustainable construction practices in the following categories:

A. Planning and design;

B. Energy efficiency;

C. Water efficiency and conservation;

D. Material conservation and resource efficiency;

E. Environmental quality. (Ord. 2018 § 2 (Att. A), 2010)

The provisions of the 2010 CGC shall apply to the planning, design, operation, construction, use and occupancy of every newly constructed building or structure, unless otherwise indicated in this code. It is not the intent that this code substitute or be identified as meeting the certification requirements of any green building program. (Ord. 2018 § 2 (Att. A), 2010)

None of the appendices to the 2010 CGC are adopted by this jurisdiction. (Ord. 2018 § 2 (Att. A), 2010)

The City Council hereby expressly finds that modifications, revisions, additions, deletions and other changes to the 2010 CGC as adopted may be required for effective administration of the 2010 CGC in this jurisdiction.

Modifications, revisions, additions, deletions and other changes to the 2010 CGC shall be accomplished by ordinance amendment as initiated by the Community Development Department staff and adopted by the City Council. (Ord. 2018 § 2 (Att. A), 2010)
