2.25.010 Office created.

There is created the office of police chief. (Ord. 96-06 § 1).

2.25.020 Duties.

The police chief, under the direction of the city manager, shall serve as the chief law enforcement officer of the city. (Ord. 96-06 § 2).

2.25.030 Appointment – Removal.

The police chief shall be appointed by the city manager. The police chief may be appointed pursuant to an interlocal agreement with another city or with Pierce County. The police chief shall serve at the pleasure of the city manager unless otherwise provided by contract or interlocal agreement. (Ord. 96-06 § 3).

2.25.040 Salary.

The salary for the position of police chief shall be set at the rate provided for in the annual budget adopted by the city council or as provided for by contract or interlocal agreement. (Ord. 96-06 § 4).

2.25.050 Compliance with applicable laws.

The police chief shall serve pursuant to the ordinances and regulation of the city and any applicable state and federal statutes. (Ord. 96-06 § 5).
