SALARIES AND BONDS

1.30.040 City council and mayor.

A.    Each person taking office as a member of the city council shall, from and after the commencement of the regular term of such council member position, receive as compensation $250.00 per month.

B.    In addition to his or her compensation as a member of the Ellensburg city council, the mayor shall receive compensation of $250.00 per month. [Ord. 4559 § 1, 2009; Ord. 3992 § 1, 1995; Ord. 3178 § 1, 1978; Ord. 2975 § 1, 1973; Ord. 2794 § 1, 1969; Ord. 2538 § 1, 1963.]

1.30.500 Councilmember waiver and election not to receive compensation.

A councilmember may voluntarily waive and elect not to be paid all or any portion of the salaries set forth in EMC 1.30.040 during their term of office. Notice of waiver and election must be:

A.    In writing and delivered to the finance director prior to the effective date of the waiver and election; and

B.    Signed by the councilmember and their spouse, if married, as required by RCW 49.48.100. Signature(s) shall be before a notary public.

The waiver shall be effective for all salary earned following the effective date and continue in effect until withdrawn by a writing signed by the councilmember or their spouse delivered to the finance director. Councilmember’s salaries that are declined or waived shall be used for council-authorized community support programs. [Ord. 4559 § 2, 2009.]

1.30.640 Officers – Oath and bond.

Before entering upon the duties of their respective offices, each of the following city officers shall take an oath of office and execute and file with the city clerk an official bond, conditioned for the faithful performance of duty, in penal sums as follows:

City manager	$5,000
City finance director/treasurer	$100,000
City clerk	$1,000
City attorney	$1,000
Municipal court judge	$1,000
Chief of police	$1,000

1.30.660 Fire battalion chief – Salary.
