6.08.010 King County Animal Control Ordinance adopted by reference.

The “King County Animal Control Ordinance,” Title 11 of the codified ordinances of King County, State of Washington, as now or hereafter amended by King County Ordinance 3980 dated December 19, 1978, is adopted by reference as and for the animal control of this City as if set forth in full herein, with the exception of the provisions of Chapter 11.08 thereof, which chapter is expressly deleted. Pursuant to RCW 35A.12.140, three copies of the King County Code, Title 11, as amended, shall be filed in the office of the City Clerk for use and examination by the public. (Ord. 1411 § 1, 1980).

6.08.020 Leash required – Dogs running at large and other unlawful acts.

It is unlawful for the owner or custodian of any dog to cause, permit or allow such dog to roam, run, stray, or to be away from the premises of such owner or custodian and to be on any public place, or on any public property, or the private property of another in the City, unless such dog, while away from such premises, be controlled by a leash, cord or chain not more than 8 feet in length, such control to be exercised by such owner or custodian or other competent and authorized person; provided, that any dog within an automobile or other vehicle of its owner or custodian, and securely confined to such vehicle, shall be deemed to be upon the owner’s premises. Any dog found roaming, running, straying or being away from such premises and not on a leash as herein provided, may be impounded subject to redemption in the manner provided by the King County Animal Control Ordinance described in IMC 6.08.010. 6.08.021 Offenses relating to public parks and fountains.

It is unlawful for the owner or custodian of any domestic animal to cause, permit or allow such animal to:

A. Enter any City park where posted; or

B. Enter in or upon any public fountain. (Ord. 1567 § 1, 1983).

6.08.022 Waiver.

The prohibition of domestic animals in posted City parks may be waived for special occasions. The Parks and Recreation Director is authorized to issue permits to allow the presence of certain animals for specific functions on parks grounds. (Ord. 1567 § 1, 1983).

6.08.030 Enforcement.

The Animal Control Division of King County is designated the agency authorized to enforce the provisions of this chapter, as provided by the King County Animal Control Ordinance described in IMC 6.08.010. (Ord. 1411 § 1, 1980).
