8.12.010 Fee schedule.

Fees for disposal of solid waste at all Whatcom County landfill and drop-box facility sites are set forth in the Whatcom County Unified Fee Schedule. A higher fee may be imposed where refuse type requires special attention. Conversely, a lesser fee may be imposed when refuse type requires minimal attention. Senior citizens, age 62 or over, with proof of age, for personal use only, may receive a discount on certain fees (see Unified Fee Schedule). Disposal rates, excepting collection hauler rates, will be subject to the refuse collection tax imposed under Chapter 32, Laws of 1986 and another one percent solid waste collection tax created by ESHB 1671 under Chapter 41, Laws of 1989. No hazardous waste will be accepted. (Ord. 93-080 Exh. 8.12.020 Use of firearms restricted.

The use of firearms on county dump property is prohibited and the county engineer is directed to post appropriate signs. (Prior code § 3.08.030).

8.12.030 Unlawful disposal.

It is unlawful for any person to use any site owned or occupied by Whatcom County for the disposal of car bodies, and dead animals may be disposed of with the prior approval of the solid waste manager, or his or her designee, during the hours the Humane Society facility is closed, and dead farm animals may only be disposed of with the prior approval of the solid waste manager; provided, in his or her opinion, said dead animals are not suitable for a rendering plant and there is no reasonable alternate method of disposal available. 8.12.040 Violation – Penalty.

Violation of this chapter shall constitute a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, violators shall be subject to a fine of not less than $100.00 and not more than $500.00. (Prior code § 3.08.020).
