2.80.010 Established – Director.

There is hereby established a department of animal protection, the administrative head of which shall be the director of animal protection. The director of animal protection shall be appointed by the borough manager. The director of animal protection shall serve as an at-will employee at the pleasure of the manager. The director of animal protection shall supervise and control the department of animal protection, subject to the paramount authority of the borough manager. [Ord. No. 1299, §2, 3-15-04; Ord. 2.80.020 Functions and duties.

It shall be the duty, function and responsibility of the department of animal protection to:

(a)    Have responsibility for and direct the animal protection and animal control program and other such activities carried on or sponsored by the borough.

(b)    Take action as may be necessary or appropriate to enforce the provisions of KGBC Title 6 in the manner provided therein, or by such other lawful action as may be required by direction of the borough manager.

(c)    Provide a safe shelter for animals under its care and control, an adoption service for animals determined suitable for adoption by the public and a public education program regarding the responsible care of animals.
