8.15.010 PURPOSE.

The 911 telephone system is designed to provide timely and efficient response in times of emergency. The purpose of this chapter is to prevent the abuse of the 911 telephone system within the borough.

8.15.020 DEFINITIONS.

For purposes of this section, “emergency” means any condition in which a reasonable person would believe emergency services will result in the saving of a life, assistance with potentially life-threatening medical problems, a fire, a need for rescue, or a similar situation in which immediate assistance is required.

8.15.030 ABUSE OF 911 SYSTEM PROHIBITED.

Any person who, after being warned that their use of the 911 telephone system is improper, uses the 911 telephone system for any reason other than because of an emergency is guilty of an infraction.

8.15.040 VIOLATIONS, ENFORCEMENT, AND PENALTIES.

(A)    Except as otherwise specified in this chapter violations of this chapter are infractions.

(B)    Remedies, enforcement actions, and penalties specified in this section shall be consistent with the terms and provisions of MSB 1.45.
